Learn Essential Life-Saving Skills – Free with The Paul Alan Project

Melanie and I recently took part in a Basic Life-Saving Course here in Streatham, and we were amazed at how much we learned in just a couple of hours. The free evening session, held at Mitcham Lane Baptist Church, covered practical Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques and how to use a defibrillator—giving us the confidence to step in and help during a real emergency.

The course was led by Chris Hunt, a cardiac professional whose calm, reassuring style made the training approachable and easy to follow, even for complete beginners with no medical background.

These life-saving courses are completely free and are run by The Paul Alan Project, a local charity based in nearby Sutton. The project was founded by Paul Alan’s daughter after he tragically died of a cardiac arrest during a football match. Her mission is to help others avoid similar loss by providing free emergency response training to communities.

The Paul Alan Project runs regular courses in Sutton and Streatham, empowering local residents with the skills to potentially save lives.

If you’d like to book a free CPR course, learn how to use a defibrillator, or simply feel more confident in an emergency, visit www.thepaulalanproject.org.

We found the experience both eye-opening and incredibly valuable—and I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. Learning these simple, essential skills might one day help you save a life.
